I am pleased to announce that my Bingata dyeing items will launch at the craft fair in Durham, England!!!
この度、
イギリス在住のハンドメイド作家のお友達Toshiyoさんが
ダラムのサマーフェアに出展されます ＾＾
Toshiyoさんは、着物をリメイクした小物や
ペットの首輪など様々な作品をイギリスで作られています。

My friend is going to have her own booth at Durham craft fair, 'Japanese Fabric crafts' on 2nd of July at Coxhoe Village Hall in Durham. She will take care of my items.
I am so appreciate her favor, cause I was able to show them at the first time overseas!

BingataBingata – The Okinawan art of colourful dyeing of cloth - a technique developed by the people of the Tropical Ryukyu Islands that lie to the south of the Main Islands of Japan.
Today, This Island commonly known collectively as Okinawa, but historically called Ryukyu. The correct term for this dyeing technique is “Ryukyu Bingata”.
Ryukyu Bingata was born from – originated from the blending of dyeing techniques from as far away as India, China and Java. These were mixed with the Okinawan home techniques to produce vivid print patterns and sharp, bright coloured cloth for use in the production of Kimono and many other items.
ProfileMy name is “Beni Wakana”, Bingata dyeing artist.
I was born on the beautiful tiny Island of ‘Yoron’ very close to Okinawa in Japan.
At a very early age I became interested in Bingata dyeing techniques and when I was old enough I decided to learn this art. In this way I could continue its existence, so that it did not die out.
I have learned the industrial Bingata art and knowledge under a master of the traditional Bingata craft in Okinawa, and it has been 13 years since I launched my own business with these beautiful Bingata art works.
My concept is of casual, modern design born from the Bingata technique. There are at least ten stages in the production of a single piece, I cherish every moment of the manual work from the basic design to the finished article and courteous work making. I feel that I put my heart and soul into all that I do and hope that my designs bring pleasure and happiness to whoever owns one of my pieces.
These days I currently participate at sales events to promote Bingata. I also hold open workshops in many places all over Japan. I hope to see my work spread all over the World in time.

背中にもワンポイントで、桜が入っています。

A weeping cherry tree of the classic pattern, were designed to flow from the shoulder.
Also to back the cherry blossoms was dyed at one point.
Gorgeous and the fleeting bloom....... I am glad if you can feel the Japanese cherry blossoms which is the fragile beauty.
Ｔシャツ size Men's M 紅型「瑞雲と牡丹」1点のみ。
型紙を使わない、「筒引き（つつびき）」の技法で
ケーキのクリームを絞り出すように糊をフリーハンドで置いて
もくもくとした瑞雲と華やかに咲き誇る牡丹を染め上げました。
タトゥーのような、肩から背中にかけての大胆な
デザインを楽しんで頂けましたら嬉しいです。

I did not use the paper, in the technique of "tube pull (Tsutsubiki)"
Place the glue to squeeze out with freehand like a whipping cream.
I dyed the silently the auspicious clouds and the peony in full gorgeous glory.
I am glad if you can enjoy the design such as a bold tattoo toward the back from the shoulder.
